Yes, so get ready for an exciting new life.
Does life really begin at 40? A common question I am sure and one that perhaps you relate to. That was until I came across this wonderful quote by Carl Jung! It certainly gave me food for thought!
In my case this quote rings true. Whereas my earlier life it felt like ‘life was just happening to me’. A sense of blending in, becoming invisible and living life typically referred to as being in the ‘rat race’.
Recently I have been writing a brief summary of my life story. Identifying significant life lessons, seeing unseen internal strengths and qualities. Yes I find it challenging as writing is certainly not my strong point. But at the same time it allows me to change the way I see my earlier life. Not just as a serious of events but that the events themselves were significant to my overall spiritual development and thus have meaning.
It is also helping me to see how my thoughts and feelings have shaped my reality, especially in terms of ways I hinder myself due to limiting beliefs. Its a pretty profound exercise and something that is best done over several weeks if not months (as it is in my case). Perhaps there is something about being a forty something where I have gathered enough life experience. To have gained enough research to be able to come out of my shell and be more of who I am and who I want to be, rather than being the same as everyone else.
We think we know ourselves and who we are, but do we really? The answers definitely come from within and not the ego, and not from what we own or have. Its a wonderful journey to be able to see the unique abilities and skills you have. So that you can utilise these more and help others to feel better about themselves.
As a humanitarian at heart, I am definitely someone who roots for the underdog in life. Perhaps you are too, that person that looks after stray animals, or birds, that person who always sees the good in another. Perhaps you are that person that gives a listening ear to others, or gives to charities, or you are the person that glues the family together.
May be it would help you too to write and reflect on your own life journey. Hopefully you to will find those hidden gems that tell you more about who you are and what you have to offer the world. In a way you haven’t realised yet. Enjoy : )
